The five-part roadmap series provides strategic guidance for advancing CIP/CIR across Europe through 2030:

Roadmaps v1: Foundation report

The inaugural landscape mapping

This foundational report establishes the groundwork for all subsequent analyses, presenting the first comprehensive overview of EU-funded CIP research and innovation activities. Drawing from over 30 ECSCI (LINK) cluster projects, it identifies preliminary capability gaps and outlines the methodology for ongoing landscape assessment.

Roadmaps v2: Strategic framework

Enhanced analysis and roadmap structure

Building on the foundation, this edition delivers an enhanced strategic perspective with preliminary findings on knowledge gaps and a streamlined three-part roadmap structure covering Research & Technology Development, Regulatory & Standards Development, and Training & Skills Development. It marks the shift from microscopic project examination to holistic ecosystem analysis.

Roadmaps v3: Technology focus

State-of-the-art technologies and implementation

This comprehensive update examines cutting-edge technologies addressing identified capability gaps, from AI-driven solutions and digital twins to advanced cybersecurity measures. It provides detailed implementation roadmaps with six strategic phases and introduces complementary skills profiles essential for effective gap closure.

Roadmaps v4: Research outcomes & insights

Technological, industrial, legal and ethical developments

Featuring insights from targeted surveys and expert consultations, this edition consolidates research outcomes, future trends, and best practices from security research projects. It includes expanded sectoral analysis through white papers covering energy, finance, space, telecommunications, transport, and water sectors. Special attention is given to the technological, industrial, legal, and ethical dimensions that shape the evolving landscape of CIP/CIR.

Roadmaps v5: Exploitation & commercialization

From research to market deployment

This edition focuses on the critical transition from research to practical implementation, providing an updated map of opportunities and constraints for exploiting EU security research. It emphasizes industrialization, commercialization, and deployment of innovative solutions, with special attention to training programs and standardization needs.

Key Contributions

These roadmaps collectively provide:
